Free Home Insurance

Given that nobody deliberately burns down their own home, and many people don’t have home insurance… the government should provide free fire/flood/disaster insurance for all owner-occupied homes. This has the cost-benefit of removing insurance company profits from the equation. The insurance will come cover homes for current valuation plus $20K for household goods. People will need separate insurance if their household goods are worth more.

Note: this does not cover renters. Renters will get the $20K for household goods if arson is 100% ruled out.
