Political Donations and Lobbyists

This is a no-brainer…

We can carry on down the path of more and larger political donations, and become a “democracy” like the USA, where only two parties are capable of winning a national election, and also rich candidates proliferate. Or we can retain a level-playing field that enables anyone with moderate support to have a voice

  1. Limit corporate and personal donations to $5000 total, per donator, per federal election cycle (even if you are supporting a local or state candidate or party).
  2. Put in place mechanisms to stop any donator using multiple vehicles to get around the limit
  3. Membership fees are included in the limit
  4. Purchasing products and attending events are also included in the limit
  5. Any entity that undertakes political campaigning is also included in the limit, as a recipient

Federal and state MPs and senators, and head of departments, will be forbidden from undertaking lobbyist work, paid or unpaid, registered or not, ever. And penalties will apply.

All registered lobbyist meetings with any government employees or representatives will need to be noted on a public file.
